Turning Crisis into Opportunity
Share
As my husband's health gradually improved, we finally began to relax. It’s often said that during a crisis, one should look for opportunities hidden within the challenges. With this in mind, I started exploring whether there was any ancient wisdom regarding children's diets.
My search led me to a wealth of knowledge beyond the "Ashtanga Hridayam" and "Ashtanga Sangraha" texts. I discovered other invaluable sources like "Kashyapa Samhita," "Charaka Samhita," "Sushruta Samhita," "Rasratnakarah," "Rasratnaprakash," "Paka Darpana," "Kshema Kutuhalam," and "Bhojana Kutuhalam." These ancient texts provided detailed guidance on what food should be prepared for children, how to prepare it, which utensils to use, and what to feed them at different stages of their growth.
Armed with this knowledge, I began preparing meals for my children according to these ancient practices. Not only did they enjoy the taste, but I also noticed positive changes in their behavior—less irritability and increased enthusiasm. After the lockdown, I consulted with elderly family members, including my 95-year-old grandmother-in-law, to verify the information. To my surprise, they recalled hearing this wisdom in their youth and were thrilled that someone in today's age was trying to revive it for the benefit of children.
They encouraged me to combine this ancient knowledge with natural ingredients and traditional cooking techniques for maximum benefit. This advice sparked a new idea in me—why not use this knowledge to help other children as well? Perhaps this crisis was a divine signal, guiding us toward something greater. And so, NUTRI & HATKE was born.
It might sound amusing, but it took over two and a half years to gather and refine this knowledge. We even tested our findings on our "Tummy Lab" members—whom you'll meet in a later section.
In the upcoming posts, I'll delve into traditional cooking methods, the authenticity of traditional utensils, how to prepare them for use, and more insights into ancient practices.
