Necessity is the Mother of Invention

As the first wave of COVID-19 hit, our family relocated to Chinchwad for our children's schooling. However, within just a few months, my husband began experiencing persistent sneezing and severe stomach pain. Initially, we turned to allopathic treatment, but despite changing medications, his symptoms persisted. Eventually, an endoscopy revealed that he had a hiatus hernia.
Determined to avoid surgery, we opted for Ayurvedic treatment, which provided some relief but also introduced new challenges, such as increased body heat leading to hemorrhoids. My husband underwent surgery for hemorrhoids, yet the original health issues and new digestive problems continued to trouble him.
In our quest for a solution, we came across a video by Shri Rajiv Dixit, where he frequently referenced the ancient texts "Ashtanga Hridayam" and "Ashtanga Sangraha." Intrigued, we sought out these books but found it difficult to obtain complete English translations. Despite this, we persevered, using Google Translate to decode portions from Sanskrit. We were deeply impressed by Maharshi Vagbhatta's wisdom on topics ranging from dietary habits to remedies for various ailments.
We decided to follow Maharshi Vagbhatta’s guidelines, including the practice of Nasya, a treatment for issues related to weather changes. Remarkably, within just three days, my husband's sneezing—a problem that had plagued him for two years—was cured. As the sneezing subsided, so did his stomach pain. Following other sutras from the texts, his digestion issues gradually improved as well.
